Looking to cool off with a luxe libation? The Gibson’s new Legends Selection has a splash of star power to it. Inspired by suggestions from friends at Brenne, a woman-owned French whiskey company, Creative Director Julia Ebell designed 11 cocktails that can be made by request only. Her hope is that guests will be encouraged to think beyond what normally goes into their drinks. “Everyone deserves a treat now and then,” she says with a laugh. The concoctions utilize boutique spirits such as Brenne’s 10-Year Age Expression, an ex-cognac cask-aged French barley whiskey: Sip it in the Little Twirl, created to spotlight the premier ingredient, with Don Ciccio & Figli’s Amaro de Sirene. Among her faves: the Mezcal Vago Elote Cuatro Regimiento. “It’s a truly joyous spirit, originally made by master mezcalero Aquilino García López for family [parties],” she says. “The Fourth Regiment is a cocktail that was impossible to make until Bitter Truth released its celery bitters in 2008, a celebratory moment for cocktail bartenders worldwide. It made a weird sense to marry these two beautiful things.”
