Taste of the South was founded in 1982 in a dual desire to bring some "southern hospitality" to Washington, DC, and establish a fundraiser for needy charities. The Committee is comprised of an executive board and three members from the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, South Carolina, and Virginia.
