A Roaring Good Time!

Lights! Camera! Auction! Celebrating two decades of success, this year’s Knock Out Abuse gala was heavy on the glitz and glamour with the city’s most fashion-forward women taking their clothing cue from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s lavish novel. The Great Gatsby-inspired reception, complete with flowing Champagne from Pernod Ricard, was followed by a decadent dinner, an intimate concert by Eric Benét and a high-dollar auction moderated by Wolf Blitzer.

It was “a girls’ night out for a good cause,” said the event’s chairwoman, Gina F. Adams. The bevy of bold-faced names in The Ritz-Carlton ballroom (decked out in decor by Events by Andre Wells) included restaurateur Maria Trabocchi, health advocate Grace Bender and Knock Out Abuse founders Cheryl Davis Masri and Jill Sorensen.

While Benét stole the show with his hit “Georgy Porgy,” it was the night’s keynote speaker, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who gave a moving speech on the importance of organizations like Knock Out Abuse in protecting victims of domestic violence. Saying the attendees were “some of the most powerful women in the country,” the 650-plus guests ultimately raised $560,000 in one evening. –Photography by Davide De Pas
