THE COUPLE Rachel Koehn and Robby Lund first met in middle school. However, they didn’t start dating until after college when Robby randomly slid into Rachel’s Instagram DMs. The rest is, as they say, love history. Robby popped the question with a gorgeous 2.5-karat diamond amid the dunes at his family’s North Carolina beach house over the Fourth of July weekend. “It was so sentimental and special,” Rachel reminisces. “I was also totally surprised that our closest friends and family were hiding behind us, ready to celebrate immediately afterward.”
THE PARTY The InterContinental Washington DC at The Wharf hosted a breathtaking indoor-outdoor affair with incredible landscapes and indoor ballroom spaces. The bride walked down the aisle in an elegant Eisen Stein Bridal stunner before changing into a reception-ready Retrofete mini dress with matching white Converse sneakers. While the couple didn’t have a religious ceremony, they still celebrated Rachel’s Jewish heritage by marrying under a chuppah, breaking the glass and doing the hora. Passed apps— including mini beef Wellingtons and shrimp tempura—preceded a three-course dinner, topped off with a traditional wedding cake and ice cream sundae bar for dessert. The party went all night long, culminating at Kirwan’s Irish pub for more drinks and dancing.
THE HONEYMOON Following quite the fete, Rachel and Robby enjoyed some much-deserved R&R in St. Lucia, where they explored Jade Mountain and Sugar Beach and sampled plenty of delicious coconut bread.
