Autumn in DC delivers new restaurants, menus and two legendary chefs new to Georgetown.
Chef Ajay Kumar at Karizma prepares a range of shareable plates.
Olio e Più
Olio e Più recently opened in DC after success in Chicago and New York’s Greenwich Village. Housed in the historic National Bank building on the corner of 14th and G streets NW, look for a neighborhood vibe and traditional Italian flavors only a block from the White House.

“Our goal is to create a space that captures the elegance and timelessness of an Italian trattoria,” says founder Emil Stefkov. Michelin-starred executive chef Danilo Galati’s menu includes dishes such as chitarra alla carbonara and vitello tonnato, along with new offerings like hamachi crudo and polpette, and polenta e funghi featuring seasonal vegetables sourced from regional farms. 699 14th St NW,771.208.4815,olioepiu.com/location/dc

Osteria Mozza
A splashy new tenant now occupies the former Dean & Deluca space on Georgetown’s M Street. James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Stephen Starr and legendary L.A. chef Nancy Silverton opened the Michel-instarred Osteria Mozza. The arrival of Mozza’s first East Coast location brings the celebrated regional Italian cuisine that has made it a cornerstone of L.A. dining scene. Osteria Mozza spans 20,000 square feet and offers a traditional Italian dining experience, marble-topped mozzarella bar, two private dining rooms, a market filled with specialty olive oils, spices, fresh produce, jarred and tinned Italian delights, sundries—each item selected by Silverton. 3276 M St. NW,@osteriamozzadc

Helmed by chef Ajay Kumar, Karizma offers an upscale-casual atmosphere with a stellar a la carte menu that blends innovative and classic Indian flavors. Shareable plates include fennel paneer tikka, Awadhi lamb chops, Amritsari snapper and Nariyal chili prawns. Vegetarian and vegan dishes also receive raves. 611 I St. NW,@karmamodernindiandc
La Collina now offers a lunch menu of traditional Italian sandwiches.
La Collina Lunch
Are you craving Italian sandwiches? La Collina in Southeast recently launched a walk-up window, open Tuesday through Sunday (11 a.m.–2 p.m.). It serves crispy flatbreads stuffed with meats, cheeses or veggies—traditional street food from Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. The sandwiches are wrapped for takeout, and we suggest enjoying them on the restaurant’s lovely, tree-lined patio. 747 C St. SE,202.998.2799,lacollinadc.com
