When she’s not spicing up DC with hot concepts, entrepreneur Daniella Senior believes in championing young ladies. “I have a great sense of responsibility to represent my generation and push women forward,” she says.
It’s 2pm on a sultry day, and restaurateur Daniella Senior is meeting a friend at Zumo, her new Latin American juice bar at La Cosecha—the first of two spots she’s concocted with partners Juan Coronado and Andra Johnson. The pals have grabbed a jugo verde, packed with nopal, pineapple, celery, orange and ginger, before heading to nearby shops. Then, it’s on to Serenata—the cocktail bar that completes the dual concept. The goal? “To put forward the finest Latin cocktail experience that will rival the world’s best bars,” says Senior, a partner at Michelin-starred Bresca, co-founder of Colada Shop (with Coronado) and sommelier. She’s making it happen. The menu features Cocteles de Origen, providing a cultural and educational platform that showcases the history of these countries with exotic produce and exclusive libations; the rare Los Danzantes Pechuga Mezcal is among them. Senior, who grew up in the Dominican Republic, is also bringing twists to her native land’s drinks and fare. The morir soñando (a milk and citrus beverage she had every morning for breakfast) takes a new form as a potable. It’s what Senior might be sipping on while at the bar—why don’t you throw on a sizzling ensemble and join her? Union Market, 1280 Fourth St. NE, lacosechadc.com
