Joseph, Greenwald & Laake, P.A. | Attorney At Law
Divorce attorney Reza Golesorkhi is unlike any other divorce attorney in DC. We learned what sets his success apart.
Where does your legal skill set truly shine?
RG: While I’m skilled in all facets of client advocacy, my skills as a trial lawyer and ability to command the courtroom make me the lawyer you want in your legal arsenal. My practice focuses on complex divorce and custody cases, which requires attention to detail, preparation and effective negotiation and advocacy.
Is there an aspect of your work that you’re particularly proud of?
RG: The best part of being an attorney is helping clients move forward during a significant transition in their lives. Every divorce is unique, so whether I’m advising on supporting children during a custody battle or advocating for fair resolutions, helping client’s move forward to a new chapter of their lives with confidence and security is rewarding.
Break down the process for us: How do you work with each client?
RG: It is all about open lines of communication and a client centered approach. No matter the circumstances, divorce is hard. It’s a process that’s extremely tough from start to finish, so having access to a lawyer is essential. I prefer to meet my clients in person to discuss their priorities and concerns and to identify areas for collaborative beneficial outcomes. This practice makes a huge difference.
What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your career?
RG: It’s about one word: empathy. That’s the key to being a great divorce attorney. The ability to understand and share the feelings of your clients— is essential for establishing trust, providing support, and advocating effectively.
Is there a mentor who has influenced your career?
RG: I’ve been fortunate to work with many legends in the family law bar—including couple of my personal mentors Superior Court Judge Stephanie Duncan-Peters and Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge S. Michael Pincus—my biggest mentors are fellow divorce attorneys with whom I’ve litigated, mediated and resolved cases.
What do you love about living in DC?
RG: The history, the activities and the culture—how lucky are we? I love regularly biking or running past the iconic landmarks in our backyard. I also take advantage of our thriving culinary scene, music festivals and worldclass museums.
