With Lyme and other tick-borne diseases on the rise, innovative measures of prevention and treatment are urgently needed by doctors and medical clinics alike. Dr. Omar Morales, founder of Lyme Mexico Clinic, paves the way for the future of Lyme disease with his effective approach of combatting the disease. His clinic, located in Puerto Vallarta, combines proven treatments with advanced medical techniques to give patients their best chance at recovery.
Dr. Morales, the only ILADS certified physician in Mexico, utilized his transfusion medicine background and blood bank resources to implement a novel way of treating patients. He learned that red-blood cell exchanges proved to be successful in eradicating Babesia and this lead him to continue learning and advancing intricate protocols to address Lyme Disease and other co-infections. He strongly believes that with effective medical research and analysis, the healthcare community will agree that a multidisciplinary and integrative approach is the only way to fight the immense challenge of Lyme disease.
“Once I understood that Babesia is a strict intracellular parasite of the red blood cells and that conventional antimicrobials failed to reduce the number of active parasites, it became clear to me that if I could replace the infected red blood cells of a patient for healthy ones of a carefully selected donor, then I would be able to decrease the parasite load in some cases from 20 percent to less than one percent—the remaining parasites would now respond to the antimicrobial therapy and die once and for all. This had to be carefully studied and the technique perfected to avoid transfusion complications. At the end, I was able to establish a pathogen inactivation protocol for all the blood units used in order to secure the wellbeing of the patient from all aspects. To date, this remains the best option for severe cases of Babesia which had been unresponsive to conventional and unconventional approaches, making it the new treatment of choice as the international guidelines have stated,” said Dr. Morales.
Lyme Mexico Clinic offers advanced, effective and ever-evolving treatments in the realm of apheresis techniques, such as photopheresis, red-blood cell exchange, plasmapheresis, dendritic cell vaccines, intravenous detoxification, immune support, and low dose immunotherapy, in conjunction with methodical application of oxidative therapies, such as high dose ozone, intravenous nano silver and UV light.
Former patient, Luanna Matthews believes that these innovative protocols, coupled with Dr. Omar Morales’ thoughtful approach, were “game changers” in her battle against Lyme disease. “I chose Lyme Mexico because they really had a comprehensive protocol. I felt extremely safe and connected when I spoke to Dr. Omar Morales and for me that was important because it took a long time to get diagnosed so that safety and trust made all the difference. He listened and was very attentive and compassionate,” Matthews said.
In addition to its advanced protocols and state-of-the-art facility, Lyme Mexico prides itself in providing patients with the upmost compassion and care. “The doctors and nurses at Lyme Mexico became like family in the sense that while I was there, they were very supportive on the likelihood of remission and road towards recovery,” Matthews said.
Lyme Mexico goes above and beyond traditional treatment, curating patient specific treatment plans based on their patients’ full medical history and current physical health. For more information on Lyme disease and the innovative treatments offered by Lyme Mexico, visit lymemexico.com.
