Designer Julia Rose Schweyer reimagines a Virginia condo with stunning results. The dining room boasts chairs from Coley Home, a custom table from Relic Tables and a pendant from Made Goods.
Designer Julia Rose Schweyer, principal at Julia Rose Interiors (juliaroseinteriors.com), recently completed a three-level condo renovation for a young couple and their beloved Bernedoodle puppy in Arlington’s Court House neighborhood. The designer creates sophisticated and modern spaces for every project. Here, Schweyer discusses how she tackled several standout rooms.
DINING ROOM
The Vision:“The dining room was designed to be a haven for lively dinner parties, where guests lose track of time in their plush chairs, and the conversation and wine never cease to flow as there’s always something interesting to look at and talk about,” says Schweyer.
The Elements: The room shines with chairs from Coley Home (coleyhome.com), a custom table from Relic Tables (relictables.com), a pendant from Pendant Light: Made Goods (madegoods.com), a custom rug from Galleria Carpets & Rugs (galleriacarpets.com) and Amy Gordon (amygordonart.com) art via Teal Canvas (tealcanvas.com).
The living room features elegant millwork, showcasing gorgeous forms and finishes.
LIVING ROOM
The Vision: Schweyer says the living room’s vibe mimics Parisian art deco with elegant millwork, showcasing intriguing forms and finishes. “The layout was meticulously planned to accommodate grand gatherings and intimate evenings,” she says. “Ample, thoughtfully arranged seating encourages conversation and conviviality, while a discreetly placed television ensures the focus remains on the room’s centerpiece—a striking, inviting fireplace.”
The room shines with artwork by Kiki Slaughter, a couch from Villa & House and lighting from Visual Comfort.
The Elements: The room offers a calming vibe with artwork by Kiki Slaughter (kikislaughter.com), a custom-designed floor-to-ceiling walnut fireplace with marble surround, a couch from Villa & House (vandh.co), a custom rug from Patterson Flynn (pattersonflynn.com) and lighting from Visual Comfort (visualcomfort.com).
A redesigned kitchen includes convenient rollouts, a wine fridge and spice racks as part of a functional overhaul.
KITCHEN
The Vision: Schweyer and her team infused warmth, texture, depth, and the inherent beauty of natural materials into the space. “The island and pantry were completely reimagined with a focus on modern functionality, incorporating features such as integrated spice racks, convenient rollouts, and a dedicated wine fridge,” she says.
The space benefits form Rocky Mountain hardware and Calacatta Cremo honed marble from Imagine Surfaces.

ENTRYWAY
The Vision:“We never take first impressions for granted, and this entryway is no exception,” says Schweyer, who transformed the space with marble flooring, tall walnut built-ins with fine millwork details and handcrafted furniture. “The entryway may be short on space, but it’s big on functionality. The entryway cabinets have smart rollout drawers to hold shoes, a closet to tuck away coats and jackets, and shelving to hold hats, gloves, and more.”
The Elements: The entry receives a functional boost with marble flooring, custom millwork, a pendant from Urban Electric (urbanelectric.com), hardware from Armac Martin (armacmartin.com) and curtains from Pepper Home (pepper-home).
