As we venture into the season of giving, we sat down with Jennifer Kim, owner, to learn more about Carpenter's Shelter in Alexandria, which they are supporting throughout the month of November.
What is the cause you are supporting?
Every November, we choose an organization to partner with and donate a portion of our sales to, highlighting them throughout the month to bring awareness and support to their cause. This year, we are partnering with Carpenter’s Shelter in Alexandria, whose mission is to support those experiencing and at risk of homelessness in our local area. As a small business, I know from personal experience that support is crucial for success and I love to show our gratitude by giving back to our local community.
How does your business contribute to this cause?
We will be donating a portion of our sales to Carpenter’s Shelter throughout November.

What has been your favorite philanthropy-related moment this year?
Cool Contours was a sponsor of St. Jude Heart of Fashion, held virtually earlier this year. They sent out gift boxes to attendees as a creative way to get everyone involved.
What are you looking forward to the most in regard to philanthropy in the DC area?
I’m looking forward to more opportunities to volunteer and attend events in person. Being present and dedicating time makes such a big difference and in-person events are a great way to raise excitement and awareness.
What do you love about living and working in the DMV area?
The most amazing thing is the extremely supportive and positive community of small businesses. We’re able to learn from each other and grow in our own distinct ways because of the relationships we have built.
