It’s not surprising that Naz Azizian wanted a timeless, elegant space to retreat to at the end of her day: She’s on the senior government staff at the Department of Defense. So she turned to international interior designer Katharine Pooley’s London-based studio to refresh her outdated 2,500-square-foot condo in Tysons Corner. “I knew she could help me create a harmonious, quality home,” says Azizian. Pooley and her team used a palette of aubergine, gold, bronze and ivory, with touches of white and gray. Special attention was paid to the walls and floors: The former were covered in silk wallpapers, with gunmetal grays in the living areas and lighter hues in the bedrooms; the latter received handknotted silk carpets laid out according to the floor plan.
