The Greater Washington Heart Ball certainly won the gold this year. Not only did the venue sparkle and shimmer with golden decor, but the event also broke the fundraising record, earning $2.2 million to benefit the American Heart Association.
“With these funds raised, we are truly able to make an impact on the community and contribute to the American Heart Association’s mission,” said 2019 Heart Ball Chairs Karen and Dale White. The money raised at the Heart Ball supports critical cardiovascular research and community outreach initiatives to educate the public about heart disease and stroke.
Four-hundred and fifty people attended the “Hearts of Gold”-themed event on February 23rd at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and they spent the night dancing, dining and bidding at a live auction. The auction featured prizes such as an exclusive experience at the Indianapolis 500, a trip on a private G3 jet and a Jamaican island getaway.
The Late Night’s Seth Meyers even stopped by for a feature performance which left the crowd laughing, and the American Heart Association’s Young Professional Committee, PULSE, tied the evening together with a dancing and dessert reception.
“The 2019 Heart Ball was a phenomenal success and raised the highest amount ever in the region,” exclaimed Soula Antoniou, the Executive Director of the Greater Washington Region American Heart Association. “The funds raised support our mission and help us continue to create a healthier Greater Washington community.”
