Scott Gerber, pictured in 12 Stories’ brown leather alcove—one of the best seats in the house—says you can see Hains Point from the middle of the bar.
Gerber Group CEO and principal Scott Gerber might be the nightlife-industry mogul behind lounges from NYC (Mr. Purple) to Atlanta (Whiskey Blue), but he’s a laid-back fella who wants to experience these sleek spaces with you. It’s easy for him to do that at 12 Stories. The new 3,500-square-foot venue sits at the top of the InterContinental Washington DC – The Wharf. “‘Stunning’ doesn’t do our incredible sightlines of the city justice,” he says. There are floor-to-ceiling windows and a 26-foot sliding NanaWall. Then there’s the people. “There’s an energy here that you can’t really find anywhere else,” he says. In keeping with the brand, 12 Stories is designed for DC denizens and is locally driven. It’s sourcing area oysters and working with makers like Republic Restoratives. “We’d like to... foster partnerships with business leaders who are doing nonprofit work,” he says. For now, he’s soaking in the airy vibe, drinking DC-exclusive libations (think the two superchilled sips served at zero degrees) and taking in the view. And we’re wondering what his next vision will be. 75 District Square SW, 202.894.9700, 12storiesdc.com
