Local designer Pamela Harvey has a reputation for creating gorgeous interiors that are both relaxed and sophisticated. She employs classic silhouettes, enduring pieces and rich colors to add glamour to every room. “My approach is to make a home timeless yet fresh, balancing attention to details, and at the same time highly functioning to enhance a well-lived life,” she says.

When Harvey recently helped a McLean couple with two young boys carve out spaces in their newly constructed home, she asked her clients for inspiration photos. “During our first few meetings, both of the owners showed us some photos that had a common thread of some punches of blue,” Harvey says. She ran with the idea. The designer used alluring shades of the color throughout the home—we love the wallpaper by William Yeoward (Astasia Sky) in the dining room—without making the spaces dwell in sameness or messy conflict.

At one point, Harvey suggested shades of blue for the home’s study—and got a little pushback from her clients. She offered neutral tones, but to their credit, the clients went with Harvey’s first choice. In the end, the home morphed into a mini masterpiece, and the designer notes the couple was “thrilled beyond belief.”
