A gallant estate created by John Joy Design + Build.
What's your background? I've been building dream homes for nearly two decades. I started out in real estate, but realized builders weren't catering to the market needs of clients. Since 2003, our team has built more than 150 homes—each one unique and spectacular.
What sets Joy Design apart in a crowded field? We're a one-stop shopping operation. Not only do we build the house, but we help with the furnishing, design and landscaping, too. Every personalized detail contributes to the aesthetic appeal, functionality and living experience of the home.
How do you work with clients to create inspired investments? We work side-by-side with every client to create a plan that's right for them. I push people to think outside the box to show them what's possible in a home. It's a collaborative process, which helps get the client thinking about maximizing sun exposure, creating privacy and anticipating possible life changes.

In what ways do you integrate technology into the design-build field? We design homes that help clients use in-home technology that's intuitive, easy to use and controllable from a hand-held device.
What trends have you seen regarding luxe outdoor spaces? Homeowners want spaces that flow and accomodate a large crowd easily for entertaining. Our clients love large screen porches with phantom screens and fireplaces, as well as hardscaped areas, in which they can both grill and lounge around.
In the world of COVID-19, what building trends have you seen? Since travel is restricted, our clients want to feel as though they're on vacation at home. Clients ask for things like pools and two home offices.
