Live vicariously through some of the world’s greatest nature explorers at the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour.
Calling all nature enthusiasts—for six days only, between April 4th and 9th, head to the National Geographic headquarters for the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour. For over 25 years, this festival has showcased films shot on location across multiple countries around the world. This year, National Geographic is featuring more than 20 filmmakers who will share their stories about adventure and the outdoors across a series of short films. Be transported to the 1,900-kilometer Ice Age Trail, the top of a 22-meter high dive over a frozen lake or the rock caves of Slovenia, all from the seats of the National Geographic theater. One must-see is the Swiss film Bear-Like, where two adventurers come into close contact with grizzly bears in Alaska, documenting rare footage of the bears' struggle for survival. As a bonus for those who attend, film festival tickets will also open access to the new National Geographic Museum exhibit, Once Upon a Climb: Stories from Everest. Unlike other Mount Everest exhibits, this one combines fascinating information about the ancient cultures of the mountain region with critical and cutting-edge climate science. Needless to say, the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour is a not-to-be-missed event for the eco-curious. 1600 M St. NW, nationalgeographic.com
