Small galleries around town that showcase great artists and lively evenings this spring
Intricate fashion collages—all crafted by hand—from emerging artist Maxwell Burnstein at Georgetown's Artist's Proof Gallery.

Artist’s Proof Gallery
Owner Peggy Sparks has one of the best eyes in DC for emerging and established worldwide talent. Plus, she’s a gracious host for events (that smile!) and has introduced the area to tremendous talent since the gallery opened several years ago. We love her collection of pop artist John Stango and the “it” collage artist of the fashion community, Maxwell Burnstein. 1533 Wisconsin Ave. NW

Hillyer Art Space
This contemporary art gallery and nonprofit organization is committed to introducing local, national and foreign artists to DC. Its goal is to help artists and the public bridge and understand different cultures through art. Up to three unique artists are featured each month, their creations often available for purchase. The beautiful Dupont Circle venue is also available to rent for chic events. 9 Hillyer Court, NW

Zenith Gallery
For more than 30 years, Zenith Gallery owner Margery Goldberg has been an expert and consultant on acquiring, displaying and selling elegant art to homemakers and businesses alike. Its collection varies from paintings to photographs to sculptures. 1429 Iris St., NW

Newman Gallery & Custom Frames
Beginning as a custom framing company in 1984, Newman’s expanded its business to showcasing and selling art like hand-woven fabrics and original drawings. This showcase of international and local artists is perfect for art lover as well as anyone who is looking for a charming frame to hold their memories or collected crafts. 513 11th St., SE

Hemphill Fine Arts
This gallery is the go-to spot for purchasing diverse and exquisite works. It also serves as an exhibitor for rotating displays of historical and culturally important pieces from a range of artists. It hosts of art talks, poetry readings and performances, and the gallery’s staff will assist with framing and installation. 1515 14th St. NW, Ste. 300
