Some clients simply want a clean slate. So, when Boffi Georgetown Managing Director Julia Walter teamed up with Sarita Simpson of Interior Matter to redesign a Northern Virginia condo, they decided the kitchen and the living room would make sleek yet elegant statements. Above all, the client wanted a minimalist design reflective of a gallery aesthetic. Here’s to a bright new season.

(1) Great outdoors. “These kitchen finishes allow the space to blend with the simple and industrial lines of the building and its windows,” says Walter.
(2) Island time. “The island has a beveled edge detail that functions as a monolithic sculpturelike piece in the room,” says Walter. It features Boffi’s K14 island with a quartzite silver countertop.
(3) Form marries function. Walter employed Boffi’s Silcover white matte lacquer-finish cabinets, along with Xila back wall cabinets—also in Silcover white—with a Corian countertop and backsplash.
(4) Going natural. To contrast the starkness of the room’s white palette, caramel-toned natural wood floors from Austria-based Mafi (mafi.com) were added to serve as a warm anchor for the room.
(5) Making a splash. Walter and Simpson’s work on the guest bath features Boffi’s B14 floating vanity with an integrated Universal wash basin; the team also selected a white Cristalplant countertop and suspended Simple tall storage in ash gray.
