At Workwell, members can meditate amid the space’s calming decor, with its custom wall hanging by local artist Nicole Capó Martínez.
We’ve been fans of Becky and Trevor Waddell’s Take Care natural skincare and lifestyle shop since it opened in 2017. Now, the duo has debuted Workwell upstairs. It’s a members-only wellness-oriented coworking space for folks who are in need of a welcoming environment to mindfully accomplish tasks. The membership will be capped off at 20 to ensure a community feel of like-minded professionals. So is it a bit like Cheers for work-life balance? “Absolutely,” says Becky. “I know everyone by name. Clients who come to us are interested in a broader concept of being able to use their work time to be connected and energized.” Thus far, there are industry up-and-comers, yoga teachers, entrepreneurs, veterinarians—many of whom run businesses by themselves. “What brings them together is a desire not to feel isolated,” says Becky. Not to mention amenities to support healthy living, including an aromatherapy bar with brands like Palermo Body (use it when you get up to stretch, suggests Becky) and snacks that are gluten- or dairy-free. There are also sessions with meditation, acupuncture and reiki, the latter from practitioner Justine Parker. And, yes, Becky and Trevor use Workwell too. “I created the office I needed,” says the mother of one, who designed it with her hubby. “I didn’t realize how much I needed a quiet space that is beautiful until I worked here.” Memberships $95 per month, 1338 Wisconsin Ave. NW, takecareshopdc.com
