A class at Elevate Interval Fitness
COVID-19 has done a number on everyone’s workout routine. Although gyms reopened at the end of June, outdoor exercise classes continue to be available for those who aren't comfortable with indoor training. Some of DC’s best exercise studios are offering classes al fresco, so take advantage of these four studios for your next socially distanced sweat.
Cut Seven: High Intensity Interval Training
If it’s good enough for college football players, it’s good enough for you. Co-founder Chris Perrin based Cut Seven’s methods of strength training and cardio off of his college football conditioning. With his workouts, clients can build muscle and lose weight. Cut Seven’s newest studio on 14th Street is an open-air set up with equipment like TRX, Echo bikes, kettlebells and battle ropes. They also hold classes on Garrison Field, but these classes are rain or shine, so check the weather before you book. 1820 14th St. NW, 202.780.8033, cutseven.com
HUSTLE at The Wharf: Spin
The 360-degree waterfront views from District Pier at The Wharf have made it a popular venue for various festivals and dining experiences. Now, it’s a temporary home to HUSTLE at The Wharf’s outdoor cycling classes. Since September, founder and Master Cycling Instructor Sunny Mae Miller has been holding in-person cycling classes at The Wharf every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The bikes are spaced 10 feet apart, sanitized for each class and participants must wear masks until seated. HUSTLE at The Wharf classes will continue until October 31, and then move to Union Stage for the winter. 101 District Square SW, sunnymaeerryday.com
Bhakti Yoga: Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Mantra, meditation and philosophy are at the heart of bhakti yoga, a spiritual Hindu practice. With many class options like Yin, Vinyasa and Restorative yoga, participants can enjoy a mind and body workout that focuses on linking breath to movement while building strength, balance and flexibility. Enjoy an outdoor flow at the park on Seventh and K Streets, NW. Morning classes are available on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, while night classes are on Wednesdays and Thursdays. 801 K St. NW, 202.789.1008, bhaktiyogadc.com
Elevate Interval Fitness: High Intensity Interval Training
