2011 JDRF Hope Gala

| September 29, 2011 | Calendar

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) Capitol Chapter’s 11th annual Hope Gala is expected to attract hundreds of Washingtonians to raise money for diabetes research. This year’s circus-themed event aims to raise more than $1 million to help find a cure for children and adults living with type 1 diabetes.

Nearly 24 million Americans live with diabetes and its complications. As many as 3 million have type 1 (juvenile) diabetes. Diabetes kills one American every three minutes, and accounts for more than $174 billion in health care costs in the U.S. Insulin is only life support. It is not a cure.
